How our Wildlife Biologists Use C'mere Deer
Products

We tested C'mere Deer last year using our trail cameras that
we use to do annual deer population analysis. In many parts of
the country we did not use anything to attract deer to our
census sites except C'mere Deer. We also treated several feeds
including whole corn and commercial feeds. The bait treated
with
C'mere Deer attracted more deer. If you are tired of hauling
bags of bait to your photo station or stand then this is the
product for you.

How does C'mere Deer work? In theory, it stimulates sensory
organs in the animals nose and mouth to cause a feeding
response. Whether this is in fact true is left to future scientific
analysis. Our observations show it does attract deer and they do
feed on the vegetation, organics and soil that it is applied to.

Avoid using C'mere Deer on fresh cut or recent second
cutting of legumes such as alfalfa or trefoil which can  have a
delayed effect in attracting deer. The delay may exceed 4 days.
Certain Forbes or weeds due to their natural chemistry are also
not good choices for applying
C'mere Deer. These are mostly
found in the Western part of the country.

You must stay clean when using C'mere Deer or any other deer
attractant. Avoid all man made chemicals and hydrocarbons
especially gasoline and diesel fuels. Use well water or better yet
use clean on site water when mixing with
C'mere Deer
concentrate.
Do not use treated water that contains water
treatment chemicals. This includes city water from your house.

The C'mere Deer concentrate is not a food so it is legal
where baiting is not allowed. We have a retired
National Wildlife
Refuge Officer on our staff
. He says that this liquid attractant is
legal on most National Wildlife Refuges. Be sure to check with
the
Refuge Manager as every refuge has different regulations.
You should contact your
local State Conservation Officer if you
have any questions as to the legality of this product in your state.

Additional Tips

A tip for more effective use of C'mere deer is to apply it in a
elongated pattern. In Texas, Senderos are a common form of
habitat manipulation. Their value for the hunter is that they hold
deer for longer periods with low social pressures. Deer
especially bucks feel safer with escape cover close by and they
can easily observe all the does that are feeding. Bait and/or
C'mere Deer applied over a 100 yard distance allows more deer
to be viewed for a longer period of time. You should always
distribute your lure or bait over a large area. This  accomplishes
several things. First the bait/lure is placed in a more natural
setting requiring the deer to hunt for each kernel of corn or
application of lure thereby causing them to stay in the Sendero
longer. Second it prevents diseases by reducing the chance of
nose to nose contact. This can prevent TB and other disease
from spreading though your deer herd.
Never place your bait or
C'mere Deer
powder in a pile.

OK
, so you do not have a Sendero to apply C'mere Deer on
your hunting property. The same affect can be easily
accomplished by using elongated shooting lanes or existing
deer trails. Again the application should be spread out over an
elongated area.  On deer trails you will need to find a bend in the
trail or construct an obstruction in the trail to allow you to photo
or harvest the animals without them walking right up to you.
Good camo and wind discipline are a must.  A shooting or power
lane can be very effective in the same way as a Sendero.
Shooting lanes that cross one or more deer trails are great for
harvesting deer. Remember spread the
C'mere Deer application
over most of the length of your lane. Apply the
C'mere Deer
directly on plants especially Forbes (weeds) that are preferred
deer foods for maximum effect.

In the big woods of Northern Minnesota or the Upper Peninsula
of Michigan
C'mere Deer becomes very effective when used on
old log landings or skid roads that provide natural travel ways
for all wildlife. Applying C'mere Deer using a hand sprayer on
preferred food sources like white clover or late season Forbes
will habituate deer to that location. As hunting season
approaches a once a week application will keep deer coming to
your photo stations. Hunters who hunt well used natural deer
trails in the bush tell us they use it to stop a buck on a natural
shooting lanes in heavy cover. Our observation shows that they
tend to spend as much as 90 seconds exploring the new scent
even if when not applied to a food source.  Plenty of time to
allow a bow hunter to make a clean kill. Remember you cannot
expect to wait until opening day and apply
C'mere Deer in front
of your stand and expect every deer in the county to show up
immediately. It takes time for deer to find your application site no
matter what you use to attract them.

I
f you want more detailed information concerning the application
of
C'mere Deer you can contact our staff wildlife biologist at
wildlifebio@brucepointpartners.com
.  We will try to answer your
questions in a timely manner.

Mixing Concentrate

C'mere deer concentrate can be used in a concentration of 1
quart of concentrate to 1 gallon of non chlorinated water.
However best results will be seen using 1 quart of
C'mere Deer
to 1/2 gallon of water. Using our included graduated applicator,
mixing 1 part C'mere Deer to 2 parts clean non chlorinated water
will provide enough spray to cover your shooting lanes or to
spray on your deer feed before spreading it. This mixture is also
ideal for soaking whole corn with
C'mere Deer prior to loading
up your feeder.

Powder

The C'mere Deer powder is designed to be poured over pellets,
corn, and commercial feeds in feeders or may be applied directly
to the ground or poured over natural organics like grasses ,
stubble, old stumps, logs, down tree tops or vines. It also can be
used in conjunction with minerals and natural salt licks. We have
observed deer digging up the ground where this attractant is
applied. In the field, placing it on absorbent material such as
nearly rotted away stumps or clumps of mature grass appears to
result in prolonged use by deer.
C'mere Deer powder should
never be placed in a pile.

What is in it?

C'mere Deer is a botanical and synthesized chemical extract
proven to draw deer. The concentration of minerals and extracts
works even when bucks are out of rut, because it's a powerful
forage-based stimulant -- not a sex attractant. It spurs animals to
instinctively seek out food, both on and below the soils surface.
Unique blend of plant and root extracts and mineral stabilizers
gives you the opportunity to take aim while the animal paws,
digs, and roots, trying to get to the food source.

C'mere Deer Customer, Jason Writes:

I live in Mid Coast Maine and am considering purchasing some C'Mere Deer.  I have
read varying reports on the product, but the article I read from your website made
the most sense.  My question is where and on what would this work best on.  I was
going to put it on hay but I have yet to confirm if that is legal or not.  I had also read
about people who had just put it on the ground.  Is the powder or liquid better for
just the ground application?  Or is it important that I put it on some type of foliage.  I
appreciate your time and answer to these questions.  Good luck this fall in the
woods!

Our Biologist's Response:

I prefer the liquid Cmere Deer when hunting in areas that other hunters have access
to as it does not stand out like the powder does. As far as the application goes it
depends whether or not you are going to set up on a food sources or on a travel
lane. First of all you can apply it to anything and it will work to some degree if deer
are already in the area to begin with.

We have not had good luck with cut hay. Deer are Forbe (weed) eaters by nature. We
have found that
C'mere Deer and legumes do not seen to go well together. If you are
going to use it on trefoil or alfalfa then you need to apply it heavily at least a week
prior to hunting the site and you need to apply
C'mere Deer heavily to the site.
However we have had success with other food sources.

We have a lady who rakes up all the acorns in her yard and then soaks them in
C'mere Deer concentrate and puts them out on a deer trail that passes in front of
her stand. It stops the deer long enough to get a shot and she also sprays the
branches near the scrape on her stand. She has averaged an 8 point buck or better
every year since she has stated using the
C'mere Deer. Her husband does not have
a clue to her secret.

Another hunter in N. Dakota put the liquid concentrate in a cup on a stump and he
says the deer come and lap it up like a dog.

If you are hunting a food source up in your area like beechnuts, acorns, Small aspen,
Apples or dogwood then your best bet is to apply it directly to these plants.
Introducing a foreign food source can sometimes cause problems. Until they get
used to the new food they may avoid it. If you can use a bait in your area you can
always use
C'mere Deer with corn. Deer quickly adjust to this food source even in
the very far North. In your area I would use apples with the
C'mere Deer to start with
as there are plenty of old orchards in Maine. I know you have white cedar there also
and a client in Michigan cuts the branches on cedar and treats them with
C'mere
Deer
and gets very good results.

Remember there is  a good deal of hype in the deer attractant business so when you
see pictures of trees with the bark chewed off you must understand that this is an
unusual occurrence in an area where natural foods may be in short supply.

Another trick is to go to the local feed store and buy a bag of powdered molasses. It
looks like the common soil or the ground so it does not give your stand away and
then spray it with
C'mere Deer mixed 1 Part C'mere Deer to 2 parts water. This can be
very effective. If you are hunting on skid roads or log landings then apply it directly
to the little white clover that will normally be found on these sites, This can be very
effective but remember hunters like to walk down logging roads so you may have
too much company.

Deer attractants are just another tool to use when hunting. You still must follow the
basics which include scent control, preseason scouting and good stand placement.

By the way we just sold out on all our powder and are getting low (4 cases) on the
1/2 gallon size of the concentrate.

Hope this help you out. Good luck and Good Hunting.
