Interesting Information

To shih tzu puppies mouthing is just a way of expression - by taking your hand into his mouth for getting your attention, but in a far gentler way than a bite. And it is essential to keep under control this mouthing habit of your shitzu at the early stage.

Mouthing can become a technique for a shi tzu to try to control you, allowing them to take that first step in the direction of assuming a leadership role within your home. You can try the steps mentioned below to train your dog pup.

A shih-tzu uses its mouth a lot. Actually, they explore their world with their mouth. They enjoy chewing things. It is found that the habit intensifies during the teething process.

Giving suitable items for a dog to focus on can at times be an easy way of resolving a mouthing problem. Indestructible chew toys like large nylon bones or hard rubber Kongs can supply a good outlet for shitzu puppies. You can also use frozen carrots or fiber bones for fulfilling chewing desires of your pups.

When your puppy gets overly rambunctious and starts biting and chewing on you, you must deal the situation like his mom. You should let out a noise that allows him recognize it hurt and he will definitely leave you.

You may wish to offer the back of your hand for your pup to lick. By doing this, not only are you teaching him that our skin is tender, but also that you expect a sign of deference (licking your hand) for their action.

Praise him in a calm manner if his cooperation is immediate and provide him an appropriate chew toy. Do not offer a toy while your hand is still in his mouth, this will instigate the wrong habit. You may also use assignment of a order like "no bite" or "no mouth", so he will move his behavior with your correction. This method should work with the average, eager-to-please puppy.

Some pups go out of hand soon. They keep on playing and nipping, avoiding what is said to them. Things will quickly get out hand and someone could end up injured if not controlled. Smile if it is not your pup!
